METU is a well-established, non-profit, public university, founded in 1956 in Ankara, Turkey with a 4500 hectares of the campus area. METU currently holds 19.323 undergraduate and 7.315 graduate students. There are over 2000 international students over 85 different countries. METU has 2601 academic staff. A broad spectrum of international COST, EUREKA, MEDA, NATO, NSF, UN, World Bank, Jean Monnet projects have also been conducted by METU researchers. Today, METU pursues a much broader fundamental and applied cutting-edge research. The Research and Application Center for Space and Accelerator Technologies (IVMER) is one of the newest research centers with outstanding accomplishments.
